The Import Process
"Import a prestige car from Japan - the easy way..."

Sourcing a vehicle to order

  1. Once your enquiry is received, we will contact you by email to confirm your specific requirements. This allows us to provide an accurate quotation from the beginning.
  2. The quotation we provide is based upon your requirements. Provided your proposed budget is sensible, we will be happy to find the car to match or exceed your requirements. We charge a set fee of £750. This means that if your budget is higher than needed for the vehicle we obtain, the savings are passed directly on to you. Unless you specify otherwise then the on-the-road price will include ESVA (where applicable), service, new tyres, MOT, registration, road tax, number plates, UK specification CD/tuners (from Alpine or Kenwood), full valet and rectification of any minor body damage. You will not need to spend any extra money on having to sort these things out for yourself.
  3. When you are ready to proceed, we ask you to complete an order form. This is to confirm that you are happy for us to commence the process of sourcing you vehicle, and also gives you the opportunity to specify any changes you wish to make to your requirements.
  4. A deposit of between £500 and £1500 is required (the amount depends on the final quoted on-the-road cost of the vehicle). We will proceed with your order as soon as this is received. The deposit is fully refundable, without question, should you need to cancel your order before we have purchased a vehicle on your behalf.
  5. We will provide you with regular e-mail updates of our progress while searching for the vehicle to match or exceed your requirements. As part of this you will be given the opportunity to see a copy of the auction report and pictures of vehicles on which we are considering placing bids. Our buyers attend all of the major auctions throughout Japan and are also able to source vehicles through dealers in Japan. We always ensure that vehicles are inspected, and auction sheets checked, prior to bids being placed. Occasionally, it can take several weeks or longer to find the right vehicle.
  6. Once the vehicle has been successfully purchased it will be transported to the inspection facilities. Here, all aspects of the vehicle are checked to ensure that it matches the details on the auction sheet, that the grading is correct, and that there are no previously unspecified mechanical faults. The inspection results are usually available within 72 hours of the vehicle being purchased.
  7. As soon as your vehicle has been inspected we arrange for it to be shipped on the next available vessel from Japan to Southampton, UK. At the same time you will need to pay the second instalment of 50% of the vehicle’s on-the-road cost.
  8. Shipping takes between five and six weeks. ESVA preparation and test appointments are booked, and customs clearance is arranged, while the vehicle is in transit. This allows the vehicle to leave Southampton docks and be transported to the preparation facilities as soon as possible upon arrival in the UK. Approximately two weeks prior to arrival, we will ask you for the final instalment, which will cover freight charges, import duty, VAT and all the work required so that we can deliver your vehicle to you, ready to go and in super condition.

Purchasing a vehicle from stock

It is often the case that a vehicle matching your requirements is available from stock that has already been purchased in Japan and is either in transit or already in the UK. In these cases then a deposit of £1000 will secure the vehicle for you, with no further instalments to pay until the vehicle has landed in the UK.

Once we have inspected the vehicle we will inform you of its suitability. If you wish to proceed with the purchase then we will ask you for an instalment equal to the vehicle cost to us plus the cost of work required up to the point of vehicle registration. Upon payment of the final instalment of the agreed on-the-road price, the vehicle will be registered and delivered as above.
